Makiko vs Kenji: Battle of the Older Siblings
Today I watched the first episodes of Yasuko to Kenji and Seigi no Mikata, both of which are about hapless siblings. In many ways Kenji and Kumako are similar, thus I have drawn up a chart to compare the two.

(Fun facts: Yasuko to Kenji stars TOKIO's Masahiro Matsuoka, and Seigi no Mikata stars Yamada Yu, also known as Oguri Shun's girlfriend.)

Kenji: (outside) ex-leader of a bike gang. (home) shoujo mangaka; draws girly manga with hearts on.
Makiko: (outside) beautiful and intelligent civil servant. (home) the motherf*cking princess.

Makiko: uses it in dangerous situations, like when reporting a man to the police for a crime he didn't commit because he cut her off in line.

Winner: Kenji (or Kumako, depending on how you look at it).


Bonus - Cuteness Level of Sister's Respective Love Interest(s)?



Kenji: Sparkly new transfer student, played by JE boy.
Makiko: School prince, played by non-JE boy.
Winner: Hongo Kanata because I liked his cameo in IRYU: Team Medical Dragon 2.


Overall Winner: Makiko
Comment: They should have babies. It would be amazing.

AH! Mukai Osamu is in that drama?
Yamada Yu's face sort of gets on my nerves, though. I don't think that I can watch.

Yasuko to Kenji entertained me - that much I can say.

I don't really have an opinion on Yamada Yu - she's fun in this, and I've seen her in small roles in other dramas before, but never really paid much attention to her.

I think Seigi no Mikata is the better of the two, but both are entertaining. I love cutie pie Shida Mirai, though, that's why I downloaded it in the first place :D

She's not bad - I've mostly seen her through appearances on Arashi's variety shows - but I was very boo hiss! about her role in Nodame - not that she could help it ...

Yasuko to Kenji was feel-good. The "younger" scenes were quite adorable :D

Ohhhh, that's where I've seen her! I wasn't so thrilled with her character, either, but she didn't turn out to be that much of a third wheel so I didn't mind. (Coincidentally, the flower shop girl's assistant was in the Nodame SP, too, wasn't she? I was racking my brain trying to remember where I've seen her before the whole time I was watching the episode.)

Yes, the scenes of him playing with his wee little sister were so adorable I had to pause a few times to coo at my screen. I love him and his twitchy head-cocking glare.

Still a bit too young looking, but in a few years, yes, he'll be the ones all the girls love. I quite like him in this, good haircut!

I have both on my watching list. Although I only had time for the first 5-10min of Yasuko to Kenji and enjoyed it bigtime :P

I think from the cast I might like Yasuko more :) Since it has Deerman-girl and Hirosue Ryoko :)

I think you'll enjoy Seigi no Mikata too... I like it slightly better than Yasuko to Kenji (Hirosue Ryoko is really cute!) but they're both fun to watch.

your summary was so entertaining i might consider downloading the first one. i like that, biker turns shojo manga artist. and former underlings turned manga assistants? oh, the pure, pure love.

mukai osamu looks exactly the same in everything he plays. i have mixed feelings about him. i didn't think yamada yu could be made to look that unattractive, but those deadly bangs have done it.

new JE boy doesn't titillate me, but that's because i'm in the throes of eddie love right now. he said 2 words in english the other day (ep 8 taiwanese honey and clover), and i was like, eddieeeeeee! why oh why couldn't you have stayed in canada and made films i can understand without a web dictionary? i mean, i know why, but still...
